ARNE JACOBSEN

( 1902 – 1971) is probably the most influential Danish architect and designer of the 20th century. His most remarkable projects are the Arhus Town Hall in Denmark, the SAS Royal Hotel Copenhagen and St. Catherine´s College in Oxford, England. His work for SAS Royal Hotel Copenhagen, included also the “Swan” and “Egg” chairs together with the renowned stainless steel cutlery for Georg Jensen. In 1967 Jacobsen designed a series of table accessories named “Cylinda” for the brand Stelton, immediately awarded in 1968 as International Design Award by the American Institute of Interior Design. He was always a perfectionist a man of details working until his last day in 1971.
